Kuta Pub Crawls
Kuta is the loudest, cheapest, and least apologetic part of Bali's nightlife. The main action runs along Jalan Legian and the streets between the beach and Poppies Gang I and II: open-fronted bars, t-shirt shops that become bars at night, and clubs at the south end of Legian. Sky Garden, a multi-level venue at the Kuta-Legian border, is the centrepiece: six floors of different music, a rooftop pool, and a crowd that has specifically come to Kuta because this is what they wanted. Paddy's Pub, rebuilt after the 2002 bombing, is the other landmark; it operates at a volume appropriate to its scale. The beach bars on Kuta Beach run earlier hours and a more relaxed crowd.

What You'll Pay
Bintang at a Jalan Legian bar: IDR 35,000–55,000. Club entry at Sky Garden: IDR 75,000–150,000, usually including one or two drinks. Cocktails at the beach bars: IDR 70,000–120,000. There are free entry promotions at most Kuta clubs until midnight, after which the standard cover applies. A full Kuta night with club entry and five drinks is IDR 400,000–700,000, which is one of the cheaper club circuits in the region.
Best Nights
Kuta runs seven nights; the variation between days is minimal because the visitor turnover is high enough to sustain it. Friday and Saturday are loudest. The beach bar scene on Kuta Beach is best on Thursday and Friday afternoons, drifting into evening, when the happy hours stack and the day-trippers from Ubud and Seminyak appear. The clubs are worth skipping until midnight; before that they're half-empty and the energy isn't there.
Practical
Kuta is walkable across the main area. Grab operates but the Jalan Legian traffic on weekend nights makes it slower than walking for short distances. The beach road (Jalan Pantai Kuta) is easier for pickups. Motorbike taxis are the fastest option for anything across town. Cash is standard at most Kuta venues; Sky Garden accepts cards. No enforced dress codes; the humidity discourages anything other than casual.
