The Krabi Nightlife Scene

Krabi has two nightlife centres that don't resemble each other. Ao Nang beach town is the accessible option: a single main road with bars spilling onto the beach, live music from about 7pm, Thai boxing nights on Tuesdays and Saturdays, and a crowd that's been on the islands all day and wants to drink without thinking hard. Krabi Town, 20 minutes inland, is where locals drink: a riverfront bar strip on Khongkha Road, a Friday night Walking Street market that becomes a drinking circuit, and a night market off Maharaj Road. The town is cheaper and less performative.

Beer in Ao Nang: ฿80–130. Cocktails at beach bars: ฿160–280. Krabi Town bars charge ฿60–100 for local beer, ฿120–200 for cocktails. There are no cover charges in Krabi. A full Ao Nang evening with food from the beach stalls and five drinks runs ฿800–1,400. Krabi Town brings this to ฿500–900.

Best Nights

Ao Nang is consistent Thursday through Saturday. The Muay Thai bouts at Ao Nang Stadium (typically Tuesday and Saturday evenings, tickets ฿400–800) function as a pre-drinks activity that draws a crowd into the bar strip afterwards. Krabi Town's Friday Walking Street runs from 4pm and the bar scene around it peaks from 7–10pm before people move to Ao Nang or call it a night.

Practical

Krabi has no public transport worth using after dark. Grab operates in and around Krabi Town but coverage in Ao Nang is patchy; confirm the app shows available drivers before you need one. Long-tail boat taxis run between Ao Nang and Railay Beach (the peninsula accessed only by water) until about 11pm; after that you're stuck on whichever side you're on. Tuk-tuks and songthaews fill the gaps at ฿100–200 per ride. Cash only at most venues.
